How To – Search the Active Directory
Step-by-step instructions on how to search the Active Directory:
Access the Search Utility by clicking on the Search button Use the Select Forest/Domain drop-down to specify which Active Directory you wish to have Gold Finger search for you
Then, use the Select Object Type drop-down to specify what kind of Active Directory object you wish to search for. You can locate Active Directory domains, containers, user accounts, security groups, OUs or service connection points Then, use the Select Search Criteria drop-down to specify your search criteria Lastly, enter your search criteria in the Specify Criteria Value input box Click the Search button to initiate the search After a few moments, if the search process is successful, the results of your search will be automatically displayed
To select a specific search result, simply double-click on it. Doing so will close the Search Utility, return you to the main Gold Finger application console, and auto-populate the Scope field for you with the DN of the selected search result entry
